Kevin Locke is from the Lakota Native American Tribe, which is one of the three main subcultures of the Sioux people. He is a preeminent player of the Native American flute, a traditional storyteller, cultural ambassador, recording artist and educator. He is most known for his Hoop Dance, The Hoop of Life.
During the Hoop of Life Virtual Assembly Program students will be introduced to North American Indigenous flute music, songs, stories, and sign language. Finally students will learn about the hoop dance which is a choreographed prayer that uses up to 28 hoops to tell a universal story of peace, unity, beauty, balance, continuity and harmony.
With each booking, your school will be provided with 6 teacher kits which include a study guide, a copy of Dawn Flight's Children's book written by Kevin Locke, and an Earth Gift CD recorded by Locke.
If you have any questions or need help with the online registration process, please contact Senior Director of Education Alana Adams.
If you require more than the included 6 teacher kits, we've got you covered.
We are always appreciative to have community involvement and underwriting for field trips and other educational outreach programming.
