ARTS CENTER AND ART LEAGUE OF HILTON HEAD JOINT VENTURE IN WALTER GREER GALLERY
The Art League of Hilton Head continues its residency in the Walter Greer Gallery, a joint venture that began in November 2010.
“We have spent much of the past year envisioning a new face for the Art League, one in which we might become a hub of creativity embracing all the arts,” said Cindy Chiappetta, president of the Art League board. “Having our activities housed in the Arts Center's state-of-the-art Walter Greer Gallery fits right in with our plans. There can be no better place to bring it all together than this highly visible and well-known location. Together we will spark a new collaborative direction for all the arts of the Lowcountry.”
The Art League board voted unanimously to engage in a three-year lease with the Arts Center, as did the Arts Center’s executive committee.
“We’re truly excited about this venture, because it is a great blending of the visual and performing arts aspects of the Arts Center,” Bateson said. “It allows us to combine the two largest local arts organizations in their field under one roof.”
The Art League will continue to conduct its classes at the Art Academy on Cordillo Parkway; however, its exhibits will be mounted in the Walter Greer Gallery.
