Part-Time Box Office Associate

Responsibilities & Necessary Qualifications:

Position Summary

Responsibilities include in-person and telephone ticket sales and interacting with patrons in a professional, pleasant manner. The position includes other responsibilities as determined by the Sr. Director of Ticket Services. Box office training will occur over 3 days from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

The ideal candidate will be computer-savvy, customer-service oriented, reliable, and have computerized point-of-sale experience. Further, the ideal candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule. Candidate should have excellent problem-solving skills, remain calm in stressful situations, ability to be a self-starter, and practice superior organizational skills.  

Required Qualifications:

  • Interpersonal skills with patrons
  • Excellent verbal communication
  • Knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Organization Skills
  • During show runs, hours include: Friday 5:30pm - 7:30pm, Saturday 2:00pm - 7:30pm, and Sunday 11:00am - 2:00pm; and as needed Thursdays 5:30 - 7:30pm.
  • When a show is not running, the position will include up to two days a week (weekdays).  Schedules are made over a 3-month period.

Organizational Profile

The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina is located on a barrier Island within 1 hour of Savannah, Georgia. We are a SPT – 7 Actors Equity associated producing theatre.  We work with award winning directors, designers, and actors to offer a season of musicals and plays, including both classics and contemporary Broadway Hits. We also present various Guest Artists during our season. 

The Arts Center is passionately committed to producing high-quality, professional theatre which exceeds the expectations of the residents and visitors, many of whom are regular theatre patrons in New York, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and London.

We have successfully produced award-winning theater for 27 years in an intimate 349-seat venue in a 45,000 sq. ft. building, situated on 4.2 acres of land centrally located on Hilton Head Island, SC. The facility includes a full scene-shop, rehearsal hall, costume shop, dressing rooms, art gallery, and educational studio.

Technical Director

Responsibilities & Necessary Qualifications:

Position Summary

Technical Director will effectively supervise the Master Carpenter, Staff Carpenter, and Scene Shop over-hires. The Technical Director will oversee the operation and maintenance of the construction facilities for four full scale musicals, one play and several events annually. Additionally, the Technical Director will engage in the professional management of equipment and personnel, as well as maintain oversight of budgets and calendars with the Production Staff. The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills and thoughtful budgetary and time management skills. Knowledge of typical construction methods and rigging is essential. They should demonstrate the ability to model professional standards and lead by example.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and updated scenery department budgets
  • Provide timely estimation of all scenic construction expenses/cost out
  • Communicate with designers as to the construction and visual requirements
  • Draft all construction drawings required for the execution of all scenic elements
  • Determine safe engineering requirements
  • Purchase materials required for the fabrication of all scenery
  • Provide a build schedule through completion of load-in
  • Establish a safe working environment in shop, prep area, rehearsal, and performance spaces
  • Coordinate timely execution of all scenic finishes with Paint Charge
  • Coordinate rigging and line set schedule with Lighting Director and Deck Chief
  • Participate in scenic load-ins, strikes, and other events as required
  • Function as Warehouse Manager providing an orderly inventory and system of storage
  • Participate in all Arts Center functions including our Spring Benefit Fundraiser, Theater Series/Events, Rentals, and 2 outdoor festivals, as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or VectorWorks
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
  • Carry 50 to 60 lbs
  • Intermediate to advanced tool knowledge
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license

Cutter/Draper

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will have experience as a cutter, draper, and stitcher. Knowledge of costume construction, design, and history is a plus, but hand and machine sewing are essential. Candidates should have excellent problem-solving skills, remain calm in stressful situations and practice superior organizational skills.  

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the Shop Manager to plan construction projects on a per show basis
  • Create or adapt patterns for production builds
  • Complete builds, alterations, quick rigging, repairs, and craft work
  • Attend all fittings and dress rehearsals
  • Assist with strike and costume rentals
  • Assist with laundry, wig styling, and show maintenance
  • Maintain a stock warehouse/inventory system in collaboration with costume shop staff
  • Participate in all Arts Center functions including Spring Benefit, Theater Series/Events, Voices of Gullah, and the Town’s Holiday Kickoff Festival
  • Additional duties as assigned
